The Final Countdown

Hopefully I am now counting down days instead of weeks...but it's strange that such a huge, life-changing event is imminent, yet we don't know when it will happen!

Nothing new really to report, I'm just trying to do what I can to coax the little one out by walking. It's ridiculous though, I go on an hour long walk and spend the rest of the day hobbeling like an old woman-it is amazing what the final weeks/month of pregnancy can do to your body, even if you stay active the entire time! I cannot imagine what it would be like if I hadn't worked out the entire time, if I had gained even more weight, or if I had a bigger belly to haul around.

I went to the doctor Wednesday, and it looks like I will be needing my appointment scheduled for next Wed (June 3). She did try to get things moving along a bit, and it may have worked since I felt my first ever contractions overnight. Nothing to get excited about, but better than nothing!

I do plan to keep updating this blog with baby pictures after he/she is born, so keep checking back.

Finally, keep Claire in your thoughts as she hits the road this weekend on her bike trip across America! May her group stay safe and dry during their adventure this summer :)

Weekend Fun

Since our childless weekends are limited these days, we made the best of this past weekend and had a great time! Friday night we had dinner with friends Drew and Erin and tried out a new coal-fired pizza place downtown.

Saturday morning we spent hours at a wholesale nursury doing some tree, shrub and plant shopping for our yard. Not exactly exciting, but we got some good ideas and learned a lot! Won't this grafted peashrub look nice in our yard? And who even knew such a thing existed?? The rest of the day was spent running errands and visiting with friends.
Sunday was a big day...beginning with a 4 a.m. wakeup! We headed downtown for Jeff's 1/2 marathon which started at 6:00-crazy. Anyway, I dropped him off at the start and went to see him at mile 5 1/2. Unfortunately, he was so 'in the zone' that he didn't even see/hear me yelling his name! I mean, you can hardly miss me these days; but to his defense, I wasn't planning to cheer him on until the finish so he wasn't watching for me either. Nicole, Rocco and I walked to the finish to see this:
Jeff finishing his first 1/2 marathon in 1:40:45! Awesome.

Joe finishing his full marathon in 3:07! Awesome.

The only known picture of pregnant Shannon and Jeff together.

After bagels and fruit in the warm sun at Joe and Nicole's house, Jeff got to enjoy a beer on the newly finished patio! Finally, some enjoyment after all the hard work he put into it. And, to top off the weekend we had friends over for dinner on Sunday night-more relaxing on the patio.

This week it's back to the doctor, more dinners with friends and hopefully we'll be finalizing our landscaping plan with the designer. As you can tell, I'm still feeling good. By staying this busy, the time goes fast-only two more weeks of work left!
