Birthday Party #2

Heading up to Breckenridge for the week, our vacation got off to a cold start!

But the following day, the sun came out and didn't go away for the rest of the week. It was fantastic!
Initially, it was just Grandma Barb, Grandpa Dan and our family. One afternoon we took a scenic drive, well worth the trip to Blue Lake!

We also did some hiking.

On Thursday, Grandma Carol, Grandpa Rich, Uncle Bruce and Aunt Claire joined us for the remainder of the trip. Nora had a particularly wild hairdo one morning!

We took a nice hike right out the door of our condo building. It was so nice, we did it two seperate mornings.

Nora and Uncle Bruce.

Nora and Aunt Claire.

And she blew kisses to Grandma and Grandpa.
Saturday night we celebrated Nora's birthday (again); she enjoyed opening gifts, or playing with the ribbon at least!

We got matching aprons from Grandma Carol and Grandpa Rich; I can't wait to bake cookies with Nora wearing them!

Nora was excited about the prospect of eating cake again.

But not so sure about the candle...

Yum!

The next day was Father's Day, Jeff modeled and wore the awesome shirt Nora made him at daycare!

Unfortunately, our camera was lost on day 2 of vacation so I only have pictures from my parents' camera. It will likely be a few weeks before the next blog update, we'll be camera shopping in the meantime!

Birthday Fun

As mentioned in the previous post, we invited a few neighbors over for Nora's birthday. She got a ball, which she really loves these days. Since it was an impromptu party (some guests were invited just 30 min prior), I ran out and found a cake-not bad for last minute!I had planned to wait until the family party for the cake-smearing event, but who can resist watching a baby dig into cake? So, Nora got her opportunity.

At first she wasn't quite sure...

...but then decided it was pretty tasty!
And finally, it was destroyed.
After a quick bath, Nora played with her new music set.
All the kids (including Kerry and Jeff) had fun with it :)
But, birthday fun doesn't last forever. Yesterday it was time for a trip to the doctor and Nora did NOT enjoy it. Even sitting on the scale was too scary to bear. She is 28 3/4 inches tall (40%) and weighs 18lb 5 oz (10%). And that was with a slightly wet diaper and immediately following drinking 4oz!
When Nora doesn't like the surface she's crawling on (in this case a cold floor), she crawls on her feet and hands.
She was not quite sure about the hairdo I tried out yesterday morning. I'll admit that it wasn't my best effort, but I'm new at this! It didn't even last 5 min and she had pulled it out.
Next week we'll be on vacation, enjoying beautiful Breckenridge and yet another birthday party for Nora!

Happy Birthday Nora!

As everyone knows, today is Nora's First Birthday! It has been a wonderful, fun year-all documented in previous posts. Nora will be having a birthday party in a couple of weeks when family members are visiting. Today, she wore a new dress to daycare, I sent whole wheat banana muffins for her class and we're having cake with the neighbors tonight.

It has been a while since the last post, mostly because we've been busy! Nora has been enjoying the warm weather, and this flat ball borrowed from the neighbor's yard.

Two weekends ago, Nora and I did a 5K walk with friends. She seemed ready to walk the whole way herself!

But really, she was just excited for the Cheez-Its at the end!
Jeff and Nora each enjoy a bottle...

Bath time remains challenging, Nora loves to drink that water and ends up with a bubble beard every time :)The challenge doesn't end when she gets out of the bath; drying off, lotioning up and diaper installation is quite a process.
Grandma and Grandpa Koski got stuck in Denver for 24 hours. In honor of finally making it to Minneapolis (to see baby Croix), I dressed Nora in her 'Somebody in Minneapolis Loves Me' tshirt.

Looking out the window one morning.
Nora is getting smarter-when she runs out of food on her tray (which does happen, her appetite has really increased the last week) she looks for crumbs in her bib! She also holds her bib out and rolls food around on it. Who knew a bib could be so much fun!?
Every once in a while, Nora accidentally lets you know she's tired.

For Memorial Day weekend, we went to the mountains and stayed with friends Scott and Megan. Saturday morning the guys went biking while the girls went hiking. Hiking with Nora on my back was not easy, but she had no problem with it and even took a snooze.

Later, Jeff pulled Nora in the Burley up the big hill to Beaver Creek. Nora did some rock climbing while the adults had a drink.
She has a pretty comfortable ride in the Burley!

On Sunday, after mountain biking in the morning, we hiked in the afternoon. Nora enjoyed the ride once again, waving some wheat in her hand.
On Monday, we were back in Denver and the Berg family came over for a dip in the pool. Instead of Sawyer, Rocco rode with Nora in the wagon this time.
And finally, Nora not only likes to walk with her walking car; she'll use her high chair or, in this case, the laundry drying rack, to walk with!
