Easter 2011

Last weekend while running errands in Denver, we stopped at a little bakery for a treat. Since Easter was near, we couldn't pass up this cute chick cookie.

Nora enjoyed a sunny spot on a chair, licking the frosting-what a Saturday morning!

We didn't have much for Easter festivities planned at our house, but Nora did check out her Easter basket.

And discovered she likes M&Ms when she opened an easter egg.

Modeling some ears...

All set to go to the Shaw's house for an egg hunt. Unfortunately, it was not a nice day so the Easter Bunny had to hide all the eggs in the basement.

Nora didn't really 'get it' that you should pick up the eggs and put them in the basket.

Instead she opened every egg, spilled the contents everywhere, put the jelly beans in her mouth, then promptly spit them out.

Before eating, Nora and Finn did their best to work off some of the sugar.

All smiles before brunch...they didn't last long. Next year maybe we'll eat during naptime...or after bedtime!

Later in the day we had another egg hunt in our basement, followed by take-out Chinese for dinner. Nora did get the hang of egg hunting, kind of. She learned that the eggs were something you should want, but instead of hunting for them, she took them out of Lily and Sophie's baskets! Finn and Nora did wind down long enough to read a book with Dirk.

It was an enjoyable day of just hangin' out.

Tons of Fun

Today I have a collection of photos from the past month or so (before we were in Florida in March) that I haven't shared yet. Why? you ask. Well, they just haven't fit into the theme of the past few posts. So here are a bunch of randoms... Nora before daycare one morning, she looks like a garden gnome! Nora and Finn in the Burley, they like going 'weeee' in there and rocking forward and backward (makes for a hard time for the peddler).
Happy at breakfast (usually)!
Digging in the dirt-bath time.

Modeling a new dress from Nanny Carol. The funny thing is when Nora saw this picture on Jeff's phone, she looked at it and said 'turtle' :) She realized she was standing in front of the pool in Florida, and on the bench of the pool, set into the tile is a turtle that she loves looking at. She doesn't miss a beat. Kerry, Paul and Baby Ellie came over one night. Nora was so excited about the 'baby' that she was practically on top of her the entire night.

And such a helper she was...
Nora has a cell phone she likes to play with, well she had one. We couldn't find it for a few days, until it turned up here one day while unloading the dishwasher. It's clean, but no longer works!
She's not an ice cream fan (maybe she isn't our child?) but Nora does like Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches.
Even the doll gets a turn at blowing bubbles.

Climbing on the fence.
Love this one!
Last week Nora had a ponytail for the first time. What a big day!
Nora and Sophie playing 'teacher' in the grass.
We procured a Cozy Coupe from a nice neighbor whose kids have outgrown it. Nora loves it and never wants to share with Finn, who of course wants to get in every time Nora is inside. Either neither of them want it or they both do.
On Sunday she took dolly for a ride in the wagon.
And another ride in the stroller-lucky doll. Oh, and the snacks and milk tagged along too.

Nora has a little plastic frog toilet that she occasionally wants to sit on. So far, she's gone pee in it twice and poop once. After pooping, she turned around and looked in the bowl, then ran to the other side of the bathroom and stood against the wall; she was afraid of it! It was so funny, but I guess she's never seen poop before...

We had teacher conferences a few weeks ago at daycare. It seems Nora is doing well, causing some trouble (they had to remove the bookshelf from the classroom), and has quite an extensive vocabulary for her age. While she rarely puts two words together, Nora talks constantly (we understand 40% of it). This week while I was traveling she learned to say I love you. I've only heard her say it once, but look forward to it becoming a more heavily used phrase!

Spring Skiing

We spent last weekend in Breckenridge with 'Nanny and Papa' Koski. Unfortunately, Carol was hurt and unable to ski; lucky for me, I got to ski with Jeff and Rich for two days. We enjoyed the mountain lifestyle including happy hour and shopping. Nora was immediately excited about this doggy in the window while shopping! Cruising the main drag with Papa.
On Saturday afternoon, it was 55 and sunny on the slopes. We thought this would be the perfect time to put Nora on skis; no worries about being cold and we were able to park right next to the bunny hill. She loves to go 'weeee' whenever possible and also loves to be outside, so thought she might enjoy this little adventure. All went well putting on the boots.
But putting on the skis was another matter. Nora wasn't very excited about them!
She tolerated it for a few minutes, but really didn't enjoy herself. We managed to get a few pictures and a short video, www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4tw2NSVmdE

After about 5 minutes of crying/whining, we put her out of her misery and took off the skis. Maybe next year we'll have a better (and longer) experience!
Back in the car, she was all smiles.
Sunday, back at home, Nora and Nanny did some coloring.
A quick photo before Nanny headed back to Utah.

It was a quick trip, but a fun weekend with family.
